A heart of gratitude allows little room for discontentment.
As I am taking the time this morning to pause and give thanks for the many things in my life this Thanksgiving Season, my heart is very thankful for God’s Word. In prayer, The Lord took me to the passage in Hebrews 4 verse 12 which reads, ” For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
I had always read and realized God’s word had power, and I always thought it was so cool how it was ALIVE and active, but what caught my Spirit today was the words discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Very sobering, yet very encouraging as well. Did you know that as you take the time to fellowship with the Lord through studying his word with him, his word is examining your heart? This explains the conviction that comes, or the anger to want to ignore its knowledge and turn away. (the flesh wanting what the flesh wants) This allows the ability for mercy and grace to hit your spirit and allows your conscience or your will to let go of what needs to be left go of and submit/surrender to God’s perfect will and Truth. For this very realization, I am so thankful that we are not left alone forsaken in our own helpless and hopelessness of our sins. No, we have a loving caring Father God who has provided a way to get to the root of our selfishness and wash it clean in his grace and loving kindness towards us. We are able by the blood of Christ to be washed clean time and time again, continuously, as long as it takes because his mercy is forever enduring to us, his beloved children.
So let me challenge you, as you begin to study his word, ask the Holy Spirit to convict you through the reading of God’s word to be examined so that you can not be deceived in your own blindness of your heart’s condition, and release the sin and run free in Christ Jesus in his truth. The Gospel was made to expose what is HIDDEN in the darkness to bring it to the light. The Gospel is Jesus and he is the Light of the World. Let his word illuminate inside your soul and let it help transform you into the image of Jesus.
Father, thank you for the precious person reading this blog post. I pray that you would bless them and keep them safe this Holiday Season. Thank you for your truth, thank you for your word, thank you for blessing us with the ability to learn from our mistakes, help encourage each other, and build each other up in the Holy faith. Thank you for examining our hearts and minds and providing access to you through your son Jesus Christ our Savior. Be with each and everyone and keep us safe. Let love abound in you. In Jesus name, Amen.
